Connect a receipt or kitchen ticket printer to your Cloud Hub device over USB in a few taps.

Before you start, you'll need:

  • A USB receipt or ticket printer, plugged into the Cloud Hub device.
  • The printer powered on.
  • A manager PIN to access Settings on the device.

Step 1: Plug in the printer and open Printing Settings

Connect the USB printer to the Cloud Hub device with its USB cable and make sure it's powered on. On the device, tap your name at the bottom of the menu, then Settings, then Printing Settings under Operations.

Printing Settings — this is empty the first time you set up a device.

Step 2: Tap + Add printer

Cloud Hub automatically scans for USB and Bluetooth printers as soon as the screen opens — you don't need to press a separate scan button first, though you can tap Scan for printers again if your printer doesn't show up straight away.

Add printer — scanning for nearby USB and Bluetooth printers.

Step 3: Select your printer from the list

Your printer appears labelled USB, along with its hardware ID (for example 076C:0302). Tick the checkbox next to it. Network and Bluetooth devices may also appear in the same list — just make sure you tick the one marked USB.

All nearby printers appear in one list, sorted by connection type.

Step 4: Give it a name

Cloud Hub fills in the Name field with the printer's hardware name automatically. Change it to something staff will recognise straight away, such as Front Counter or Kitchen — this is what appears on screen and in reports, and doesn't need to match the printer's hardware name.

Selecting a printer auto-fills the Name field — go ahead and rename it.

Naming tip: Include the printer's physical location in its name — for example Kitchen, Bar or Counter — rather than leaving the hardware name in place. It's the quickest way for staff to tell printers apart once there's more than one set up, both on screen and when troubleshooting.

Step 5: Choose what this printer prints, and set a default

Under What prints here?, tap each document type this printer should handle: Customer receipt, Kitchen ticket and/or Ops report. If this is your main till printer, turn on Make this the Default printer as well — the default printer catches anything that isn't assigned to a specific printer.

Renamed to “RP-630 - USB”, assigned to all three document types, and set as the Default printer.

Step 6: Tap Save printer

Your printer now appears in the Printers list with a DEFAULT badge if you set it as default, along with its connection type and the document types it's handling.

RP-630 - USB saved and set as the Default printer.

Check the routing, then run a test print

Once a printer is saved, open Routing & test print from the Printers screen to see, at a glance, which printer each type of document is going to — and to send a test print straight to it.

Routing & test print — shows every document type and which printer(s) currently handle it.

Document typePrinter(s) it currently routes to
Customer receiptRP-630 - USB, RP700 - Network printer
Kitchen ticketRP-630 - USB, TP85 - BT
Ops reportRP-630 - USB
Anything else — unassigned or a future document typeRP-630 - USB (Default)

Anything not listed above always falls back to the Default printer, so nothing silently fails to print.

If your printer doesn't appear in the list: Unplug and reconnect the USB cable, try a different USB port, and tap Scan for printers again. Still nothing? Tap Can't find it? Enter an address manually on the Add printer screen.
